This privacy policy applies to TFCollective Limited, trading as Untold New Zealand (“we” or “us”).

1. The information we collect

When you enquire, chat or book: your name, email, phone, country, trip details, notes, chat messages and email preference. For bookings, we also collect the names and travel details of everyone travelling, and any health, access or dietary needs you tell us.

When you visit our website: your IP address, pages viewed, rough location, device, browser and the ad you came from.

If you give us details of other travellers, please show them this policy.

2. Why we need this information

To reply to your enquiry by email, text, WhatsApp or phone, and to plan and book your trip. To block spam enquiries. To understand which pages and ads work, and to show our ads to people who have visited this website. To send news and offers, if you ticked the box.

Our legal reasons are our contract with you, your consent, our interest in answering enquiries, and New Zealand tax law.

We do not sell or rent your information to other companies for their own marketing.

3. Who we share it with

• Google, LinkedIn and Meta, for our advertising (see section 6), including matching your enquiry to the ad you clicked.
• HubSpot, PostHog, Mailgun and Cloudflare, which run our website, chat and enquiries.
• WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, if you message us there or we reply to you there.
• Suppliers, such as lodges, tour companies and the rental car company, to quote and book your trip.

Apart from suppliers, these companies may store information outside New Zealand, including the United States.

4. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no website or email is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee it. We keep enquiries while we might still plan a trip with you, and booking records for 7 tax years, as New Zealand tax law requires.

5. Cookies

We use cookies to remember your choices, and for analytics and advertising. In the European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland, we ask before analytics and advertising cookies run. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a no to analytics and advertising cookies, wherever you are.

6. Advertising

Third-party vendors, including Google, LinkedIn and Meta (Facebook and Instagram), use cookies and device identifiers on this website. They use them to measure our ads, and to show our ads on other sites and apps based on your past visits here. Our Google Analytics is linked to Google Ads, so Google can show our ads to people who have visited this website.

As well as changing your cookie choice (section 5), you can:

• turn off personalised ads in Google’s ad settings
• opt out with many ad companies at once at aboutads.info/choices, or in Europe at youronlinechoices.eu

7. Access and correction

Under New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you. In the United Kingdom, European Union, European Economic Area and Switzerland, you can also ask us to delete, limit, move or stop using it.

8. Questions and concerns

Email support@mail.untoldnewzealand.example.com. If you have a complaint, please contact us first, so we can try to put it right. If we cannot, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. In the United Kingdom, European Union, European Economic Area or Switzerland, you can also complain to your local data protection regulator.
